DEVELOPING OF KEY COMPETENCES FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL YOUTH IN THE KAMIONKA WIELKA COMMUNITY
In the period from 01.01.2014 until 30.06.2014 European Foundation of Development in a formal agreement with the Kamionka Wielka Commune Office implemented the project "Developing Key Competences for Secondary School Youth in the Kamionka Wielka Community" under Priority IX "Developing education and competences in the regions" Action 9.5 "Lower education initiatives in rural areas" Human Capital Operational Programme.
The main aim of the project was to equalize the educational opportunities of 63 students from 3 rural secondary schools in the Kamionka Wielka Municipality with deficits in core competences. Within the project, additional activities were developed in students from rural areas, competence in the communication in native language, mathematical and scientific competences, competence in communication in foreign languages (English) and IT competences. Additional classes were implemented using an innovative teaching system based on constructivism-WebQuest theory. WebQuest is an innovative teaching method that enables the efficient use of information and communication technology in the teaching process. This method is oriented towards self-learning by the student in which the main source of information with which the student is working is the Internet. Classes implemented using this method have resulted in excellent results in the development of knowledge among students from rural areas (100% of the results achieved) as well as raising the competences of teachers from schools located in the municipality of Kamionka Wielka.
