WATER SAFETY ON CROSS BORDER AREA
European Foundation of Development in partnership with Horská služba Pieninského národného parku from Slovakia from 07.2013 until 11.2013 has implemented the project "Water safety in cross border area", which was co-financed by the International Visegrad Fund.
The main aim of the project was to lead to cooperation between Mountain and Water Rescuers from Poland and Slovakia (from the Beskid Sądecki and Pieniny) and to develop common rules for rescue operations in mountain rivers and streams.
In order to ensure cross-border security, the project carried out a series of activities such as:
- joint exercises on specially adapted to this kayak track in Szczawnica (Wietrznica) on 24.08.2013 and at the height of the village Červený Kláštor on 28.09.2013 In joint exercises 20 Mountain and Water Rescuers from Poland and Slovakia participated. Common exercises were used to develop common Polish-Slovak rules of conduct during rescue operations on mountain rivers and streams.
-Seminar on the exchange of experiences of Mountain and Water Rescuers from Poland and Slovakia held from 12th to 13th October 2013 in Nowy Sącz. The seminar was attended by 30 Mountain and Water Rescuers from Poland and Slovakia. The seminar was an opportunity to exchange experiences on the procedures used during rescue operations of Mountain and Water Rescuers in Poland and Slovakia and to develop schemes and procedures for joint rescue actions on mountain rivers and streams in the border area.
- publication of a bilingual brochure containing rules of conduct during rescue operations on mountain rivers and streams of the Polish-Slovak border area, which was distributed among mountain and water rescue workers from Poland and Slovakia.
The project has positively impacted on the safety of residents and tourists practicing rafting in the Beskid Sądecki and Pieniny Mountains, and the mutual meetings and exchanges of experiences have inspired inspiration for further initiatives developing Polish-Slovak cooperation and enhancing security in the mountainous cross-border area.
Thank you for your cooperation !!!
