Medical Training "Procedures and principles of tactical care for the casualty in combat conditions" – MODULE I

On 17.02.2024 and 18.02.2024 in Dołhe (Ukraine) as a part of the project "Support for Ukraine Mountain Rescues" a Medical Training "Procedures and principles of tactical care for the casualty in combat conditions" – MODULE I "Tactical assumptions and medical principles on the battlefield" will be conducted.It is planned that in Medical Training 20 members of the NGO Mountains Guides Association “Rovin” acting as Mountain Rescuers and having the status of a member of the Ukrainian army will take part. Medical Training including 20 hours of classes will be conducted by 2 experts from Poland. For participants board and accommodation will be provided.

a) Introduction to Tactical Combat Casualty Care:
- differences between civilian and tactical rescue - 1h
-main causes of death on the battlefield - 1h
-detailed discussion of injuries arising during tactical operations - 1h
-proceedings in individual zones - 1h
- rescue equipment used on the modern battlefield - 1h
b) TCCC assumptions and priorities
- assistance zones - 1h
-help levels - 1h
c) Approaching the injured person
- Self-protection measures - 1h
-Security of the scene - 1h
- The mechanism of injury - 1h

18.02.2024 08:00-18:00
c) Approaching the injured person:
-Total number of victims - 1h
-Equipment and resources needed in action - 1h
-Consent of the commander - 1h
- Communication with the victim - 1h
d) Protocol M-A-R-C-H-E
-M – Massive hemorrhage control (searching for sources of external hemorrhage/stopping) – 1h
-A - Airway management (recognition of airway obstruction, securing patency) - 1h
-R – Respiratory management (occlusive dressings on the chest, diagnosis and decompression of pneumothorax) – 1h
-C – Circulation (Bleeding control, Intravenous, Fluid resuscitation, Tourniquet assessment and removal) – 1h
-H - Hypothermia (use of Hypotermia Prevetion Kit or Helios systems as an element of the fight for hemostasis) - 1h
-E - Everything else (M-PHAAT-D, additional activities) - 1h
